Now let’s discuss how to Overcome Burnout in 5 steps.

  1. Monitor your feelings.

  2. Build a support network with friends and family.

  3. Do things that you enjoy.

  4. Create a healthy sleep schedule.

  5. Learn stress management techniques.

1. Monitor your feelings

  • Understanding your feelings helps you manage them and feel better faster.

  • If you are more aware of your feelings, you may be able to better manage your lifestyle choices, make an informed health decision, prevent or avoid triggers of negative moods, and work towards a better quality of life.

  • Once you choose hope with your feelings, anything is possible.

2. Build a support network with friends and family

  • Keep in touch with friends and loved ones on a regular basis.

  • Make an effort to catch up over a cup of coffee or even a simple phone call to ask them about how they are getting on.

  • They will be able to feel your concern and sincerity from the time you spend with them.

3. Do things that you enjoy

  • When you get stressed with your work, take a break and do things that you enjoy, after that start your work.

  • Doing something enjoyable every day can help to improve your outlook on life.

  • Getting stuck in the same routine can lead to feelings of frustration, but breaking out of the routine to do something enjoyable every day can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world.

  • When stress makes you feel bad, do something that makes you feel good, even if you do that only for 10 or 15 minutes.

4. Create a healthy sleep schedule

  • Create a healthy sleep schedule that more suits you.

  • The recommended amount of sleep for a healthy adult is at least seven hours.

  • Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, including on weekends.

  • You make sure that you follow the "10 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 0" sleep rule - Cut out caffeine 10 hours before bed. Don't eat or drink alcohol 3 hours before bed. Stop working 2 hours before bed. Get away from your screens 1 hour before bed.

5. Learn stress management techniques

  • Doing things, you enjoy is a natural way to relieve stress and find your happy place.

  • Even when you’re down, you may find pleasure in simple things like going for a walk, catching up with a friend or reading a good book.

I give some stress-relieving activities that may work for you:

  1. Play with your kids or pets - outdoors, if possible take them for a walk in nature.

  2. Meditate or practice yoga.

  3. Go for a walk, run or bike ride to clear your head.

  4. Read a book, short story or magazine.

  5. Meet a friend for coffee or a meal.

The key is to make these things a practice. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you may start to feel better once you disrupt the cycle of stress.
